Some customers of Bank of America encountered difficulties in accessing their accounts Wednesday afternoon, but the bank claimed the outage has mainly been rectified.
Complaints on the continued issues with Bank of America began flooding into Downdetector, which tracks and reports service interruptions, by 12:45 pm ET.
Several customers voiced their frustrations saying they were unable to view their account balances. Some who managed to access their accounts, were shocked to find out the account displays a zero balance.
In a correspondence with CNN Network, Bank of America recognized that “some clients are having issues when trying to access their accounts and their balances information today.”
“These concerns are being worked on and for the most part have been fixed,” Bank of America stated. “We are sorry for the disruption.”
Causes for the issue went unspecified by Bank of America. It remains uncertain when full operations will be restored.
Several staff members of CNN who had Bank of America accounts were unable to access their accounts online as of Wednesday afternoon. One of the Bank of America customers was prompted with a message saying the current balance amount for one or more of his accounts may “not be available at this time.”
“Five accounts show zero balance, over 20K,” reported one user on Downdetector who had a Bank of America account.
Another commenter explained he is unable to log in, but his wife is able to, and she has no balances on either of her accounts.
“Shows my debt just fine tho,” another commenter added.
